Fitness of Body and Mind

There are countless fitness methods available and something new always coming up. Does make me wonder, why always something new? May be because these methods do not work, so need for new one always? Fitness of body and mind has become one of the much needed aspect in this modern life. I remember the stories my great grandmother used to tell me about life in their times. I was very small at that time, so these stories did not mean much for me at that time other than bed time stories. But now i realize how much it made sense.

Life in older days used to be much simpler in villages in India. No cars, no luxury items, no big bathtubs etc. I remember that in my childhood we used to live in remote village and we used to go to wells to take bath in mornings, which was half a km from my home. On the way there were bushes and trees, of which there was bush called tirmira, from which we broke one small part and chewed one end, which then became tooth brush. Let me tell you that this used to be best cleaning of mouth, toothpastes come nowhere near compared to that. This is just one example of simple life.

As we are going more and more technical and luxurious, more we are complicating our life. More successful we are becoming in terms of wealth or social standing, more worries are coming along. Many are searching for peace and fitness.

Ashtanga vinyasa yoga is one of the best fitness tool one can use to overcome physical or mental disturbances. Thousands of years old As hard and complicated it looks to practice ashtanga, that much more beneficial it is. There is hardly anything like this available in other methods of fitness.

As we go deeper and deeper in practice of ashtanga, body starts coming to normal state. Along with this more important benefit it brings is calmness of mind. By putting emphasis on breathing and concentration while practicing asanas, one starts to feel more and more inner happiness increasing while going deeper and deeper in to practice.

Ashtanga practice is not something you will master in a month or few months. It needs time and patience. One has to see it like making foundation in first few months. Once that is achieved, the real thing starts from there. Having said that, it does not mean that ashtanga is for just some, it is for everyone. For some it takes less time and for some more to get hold of it. But it is possible at any age, any condition.

The health benefits of Ashtanga are countless. Few of these are, relief from stress, tones cadiovascular system, helps in reducing symptoms of chronic diseases, helps in weight loss, tones muscular system, brings flexibility, helps in increasing concentration, calms mind to be able to cope up with stressful work conditions, regulates hormonal balance.....and the list goes on.
