Yoga in Mysore
About Mysore
Mysore is located in south India, 140km from metropoliton city Bangaluru. Mysore is know for two reasons around the world, one is yoga and another Mysore palace among other things. Great teacher's like Shri K.Pratabhi Jois made this place known to Yoga community around the world. Hundered of people from around the world are in Mysore every day for their yoga experience in India. Some have even made it home.
:
Remarkably whoever i met in Mysore from western countries over the period of eleven years or so who were there to do yoga, nobody really had any big complain, except may be people trying to sell them all kind of stuff. Mysore has population of around 0.9 million, can feel a lot as like any place in India, it is chaos everywhere. I say chaos from western point of view, for us Indian's it is all systematic.
There are people of all kind of backgrounds, hindu's, muslim's, jain's and christian's in majority. This also brings diverse culture to this city. Everybody is friendly and willing to accommodate everybody.
Culture Shock
It is may be one of the things which either way can not be avoided for people going to Mysore first time. Some of the things which one notices is traffic, hawnking and lot of people crossing roads without traffic lights among other things. I do not think life without it exists anywhere in India. Other wonderful thing one will notice is street food and tea stalls. Life without fantastic tea every two hours or so for Indian's is not normal. I remember having ten cups of tea a day in India, which i miss being in europe.
