Is yoga for women?
Does sound interesting is'nt it?
Of course it is not just for women. It is for everyone. I have students from 10 years old to 60 years old, men and women.
I have not yet found reason for some men to think yoga is for women only. But what is good to see is that it changing everyday as guys are realising the benefits of yoga.
I think that the drive of men toward making muscle is fulfilled when they feel stiff in muscles. Many of my own friends tell me that it is that hardness of muscles which makes them happy.
But is it really good? Let us not be judge. But as i see it, in end many are ending up doing yoga because of reduced flexibility and back problems arising from heavy weight lifting.
The reason i feel men feel hesitant to do yoga in a class is also presence of proportionally more women in class. Well, may be even that is also not reason, who knows?
The point i want to get across is that men are being mislead. They think yoga is sitting on mat with eyes closed and doing nothing. Well it is not that. There is so much more in to it.
Try out Ashtanga classes and you will be amazed that it can make you sweat and work on each and every muscle in your body. Of course making muscles is not aim of yoga, it is to make body physically fit, so that one can work towards calming mind.
